Day 4! All projects finished.... and we finished strong.

The leaders heard this from the church staff multiple times, "These students are extremely hard workers, and they've been a joy to meet." YES, these students have given 110% each and every day.  TKA Knights be proud!  We see your heart to serve, and to give up personal comfort for another's gain.

We had quite a few projects to finish up today. A few more spots to paint, a ton of rocks to move back into place, and a TON of woodchips to get off the street!  It really took all day to get it where it belongs. But with everyone chipping in (pun intended)  we got it done.... and not a moment to spare.

Our morning started off with worship and a message from Pastor Schoch.  We were blessed to hear from him all week.  Today his message was personal.  As Jesus hung on the cross, one criminal hung on each side. One of them mocked Jesus, telling him that if he's really God, to pull them off the cross.  The other criminal, was honest with himself, was able to see the truth of who Jesus really was. The criminal said to the other criminal, "Don't you fear God? This man has done nothing wrong."  Jesus recongized this man's heart, and said to him, "You will be with me in paradise." We all need to be honest with ourselves, and personally invite Him into our lives.

A real reminder of the sacrifice is given for those that believe.  You and I are separated from God because of our sins, and with Jesus' death on the cross, we are forgiven. Once we are cleansed from our sins, God brings us into a relationship with Him. Nothing can separate us from Him again.

He also calls us to bless others.  We pray that our hard work will show the community around Crossroads Church that we care about them.

Day 3: Painting cracks, pulling weeds, moving rocks, and a ton of mulch!

This morning we enjoyed some worship songs, and heard more from Pastor Schoch. He said, "You are far more sinful than you ever thought, but you are loved more than you will ever believe."

Fence crew divided and conquered other areas today,  They supported the painting and landscape crews.  Painting crew painted 45 out of the 60 columns today. Some of the work was tedious as they had to get small brushes into the cracks. Landscape crews never have an end to their projects.... more weeds to pull, more vines to remove.  They made amazing progress on the landscape fabric and laying of mulch.  The entire team is starting to see the fruits of their labor.

At the end of our day, Mr. Nisbet asked students about their favorite verse, and this one summed up the day, "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

Perfect.  We could all use some rest. Enjoy more pictures from today.

Day 2: Fence, Paint, Weeds....

Beautiful day today!  Not too hot, light breeze.....perfect for more painting, fence building, and removing weeds!

Pastor Schoch began our day with worship and a message.  When storms come (and they will come) be sure to look to Jesus for strength, peace, and guidance to get through it.

Congrats fence crew.... 98% complete.  Which is great.... landscape crew needs their help.  Painting crew finished the parking lot curbs, now they will begin paining fence columns.  Landscape crew finished one very long stretch.  They will begin hammering down landscape fabric before spreading mulch tomorrow.  A side project was completed.... a basketball hoop.

Day 1 Parking lot: Painting, Landscape, Fence Building

Today's adventures were filled with hard work, a little rain, a bit of sunshine and lots of wind!  Day started out with worship and an inspirational message from Pastor Schoch.  Sometimes God leads you where you think you don't want to go, but He has a plan and in His will there's no better place to be.

Our Goal: To give a facelift to some areas around Crossroads Christian Church in San Jose.  The landscape crew worked hard pulling extremely tough weeds, and the goal was to keep ahead of the fencing crew.  Painting crew swept areas first, and pulled a few weeds that were in the way of the area needing painted.  The Fence crew got further than they expected to get, and had to backtrack a few steps before regrouping. Once they got moving, they were busy adding support posts to existing cement posts.

Lots of progress was made today, and it was great to see so many hardworking students and adult leaders.
