TKA Library Service Week Day 4

Our verse for today was Ephesians 2:10. "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  On our last day together as a library team was once again a great day. We finished up our tasks and said our last good bye to Mrs. Jensen as today was her last day.

I would like to end our week with quotes from our students and the things they learned and  experienced. during our week together.

"I enjoyed getting to know other students (that I otherwise would not have talked to) and planning activities for the 6th and 7th graders!"

"I loved getting to do crafts and organize events for 6th and 7th graders."

"Something I learned is that librarians have avery hard job. I have more respect towards them now. I got closer to others also."

"I met and became friends with people that I did not know that I would or could become friends with."

"Inventorying games was pretty fun and playing games at the end of the first 2 days was really fun."

"I liked that we had a variety of tasks instead of doiong the same thing continually.  I especially enjoyed counting board games."

"I met more people from other grades this week."

"I got to see the differenct collections and genres that the library had that I never knew was available."

"I made friendships with people I normally wouldn't talk to, and I saw how much more the library needs to function smoothly."

"I enjoyed getting to know other people who I probably wouldn't have come to know without this service trip."

"I learned that I don't want to be a librarian."

"I liked reading the Bible."

"I liked cleaning and orgainizing."

"The experience of being a librarian is valuable."

"I learned that the library was a lot of work but it was fun building relationships with new poeple."

"I like meeting new people and getting to know them."

"I learned there is a lot of work to do in just a small library."

"I learned that keeping a library clean and functional is much harder than most people think."

"I had fun with Terry, Derek and a bunch of others as well as sixers and helping serve ice cream."

"I learned that God loves all kinds of service, no matter how big or small it might seem.  He appreciates our humble, servant attitudes. I also learned that it doesn't matter who sees our service, becauuse God sees it and that's all that matters."

TKA Library Service Week Day 3

Today is Wednesday! We are 3/4 of the way done with our week!

We worked on shelf reading today, which is making sure all the books are accounted for and in the right order and place on the shelf.  All the hobby kits got inventoried, textbooks cleaned, and Mrs Okazaki's office was spruced up.

The highlight of the day was our lunchtime activity of Capture the Flag with the sixers and sevvies!  We had our mastminds planning the event in the morning and the fun began at lunchtime.  It was a great success with no injuries!

We ended our day finishing up a few things and are ready for tomorrow!

You are the best Library Service Team!

TKA Library Service Week Day Two

We are back to the Library bright and early on this day--day two!  We continued on our projects from the day before. More progress was made! YAY!

Today we also helped out at lunch time serving ice cream sundaes and decorating sugar cookies with the sixers and sevvies!  Everyone enjoyed the treat and our team did a great job of setting up, coordinating, scooping ice cream and cleaning up.

Day two ended with all games (over 100) inventoried, all book shelves cleaned, the AAPI project completed, and another round of board games!

TKA Library Service Week Day One

Welcome to the TKA Library!  Our goal this week is to work on projects inthe Library that  happen once a year to help prepare for the summer and next school year.  Creativity, muscles and attention to details are what's needed this week.

There are 24 students in graces 9-12 plus 3-5 adults (depending on the day) working together to accomplish specific goals.

On day one the list of jobs to accomplished was introduced. We had teams of students for each task.  Our jobs included book shelf cleaning, games inventory, creating a display for Asian American Pacific Islander month, cleaning blinds and windows, taking down decorations and cleaning textbooks.

We closed out our first day with a time of board game playing.  Everyone did a great job participating in everything!

Thanks Library Team!
